Changelog
What changed, and when
Every change to the editor or the site, newest first. Corrections to guides are noted on the guide itself as well.
20 September 2026
New look. The site has been redesigned around reading: a serif for the text, one accent colour, and no more gradient logo. The editor itself works the same way it did.
Guides. A new guides section with eleven pieces on the questions that come up most by email: what's actually inside a tag, why cover art won't show, how big a cover should be, why titles turn into question marks, and which tool to use for a whole library. More will follow.
Editor fixes.
- Dropping a file that isn't an MP3 now shows a message. Previously it failed silently because of a missing function.
- The genre is written as its name (
Rock) instead of a code ((17)). Some software, including the Finder on macOS, showed the code literally. - The genre list now has all 192 codes, in two groups, instead of 19.
- An old ID3v1 tag is always removed before writing, so the file's two tags can't disagree if you untick the ID3v1 box.
- MP3 files that a browser reports as
audio/mp3rather thanaudio/mpegare accepted. - Reset clears the cover art as well as the text fields.
Site. New About, Terms and this changelog. A sitemap. The privacy policy now says exactly what the host logs and what happens if adverts run.
